2012 USA Curling Nationals Volunteer
Volunteer opportunities are being offered at two different participation levels, FULL Participation Package & PARTIAL Participation Package.
PARTIAL VOLUNTEER PACKAGE:
We are asking each volunteer to work a minimum of 1 shift (- 4 hours ) with the following benefits:
- Snacks and beverages during shift
- A volunteer T-shirt ( to be worn during shift )
FULL VOLUNTEER PACKAGE
We are asking each volunteer to work a minimum of 4 shifts (-4 hours each) as well as pay $25 to help cover volunteer benefits, which include the following package valued at over $100:
- 2012 USA Curling Nationals Volunteer T-shirt ( to be worn during volunteer shifts)
- 1 Round Robin General Admission Pass ( allows access to all Round Robin Games)
- Exclusive Event Volunteer Pin
- Beverages and Snacks During Volunteer Shift

Below are the descriptions of the 2012 USA Curling Nationals volunteer opportunities. They should assist you in filing out the VOLUNTEER OPPURTUNITIES & VOLUNTEER SCHEDULE sections of the volunteer application. It will give you a better understanding of the responsibilities of the many volunteer opportunities as well as the dates and times that you as a volunteer will be needed in each area.
CURLING INSTRUCTORS
- Sign up event attendants for Learn to Curl Sessions
- Teach the Learn to Curl Sessions on Rink 4 of The IceWorks Skating Complex. (It is preferred that instructors have completed the Level 1 Instructor course that is offered through USCA)
GATE ATTENDANTS/USHERS
- Collect tickets of those attending the event
- Assist customers looking to purchase tickets at Ticket Window
- Help guide event attendants to seats
- Help guide event attendants to the location of the restaurant/concession stands
ICE CREW
- This position will require help prior to the event starting, as well as during the event
- Assist Head Ice Technician to flood and install the ice surface
- Assist the Head Ice Technician in cleaning the ice at 5th end break
- Help Head Ice Technician to prepare the ice for the next draw
- Vacuum carpeting surrounding ice sheets
MERCHANDISE
- Ensure Merchandise area is tidy and merchandise is presented appropriately
- Sell merchandise to event attendants
RUNNERS/HOSPITALITY
- Clean locker rooms after draws are completed
- Ensure the official/athlete hospitality area is clean and fully stocked
- Help event staff complete various tasks as needed during the event
TIMERS/ON ICE OFFICIALS
- Assist Head Official to supervise the activities on the playing surface (It is preferred that the on ice officials have completed the Level 1 Officiating Course through USCA)
- Operate the time clock for one sheet for the entire draw
- Complete the official timecard and obtain the skip’s signature after the draw is completed
- Must have general computer knowledge, to work timing system
